1. Imposter syndrome: The diagnosis and labeling that adds fuel to the fire.
2. Find out how feeling like a fake relates to the universal limiting core belief of all humans.
3. Discover how removing the label of imposter syndrome and addressing the root cause of the behavior will skyrocket your confidence.
Heck, you may even start feeling competent.
Research shows about 75% of professionals experience imposter syndrome at some point in their careers. These are professionals who are completely competent and still feel like frauds who don’t deserve their accomplishments. In addition to the stress caused by the symptoms of imposter syndrome, these professionals have been diagnosed and labeled as if their symptoms are somehow more damaging than other challenges, such as procrastination and lack of money.
The act of making these symptoms into a syndrome and adding the word "imposter" suggests a criminal tone, adding an unnecessary layer of challenges that professionals must bear. In my professional opinion, this label makes the symptoms seem more detrimental than they really are.
You may feel like a phony, undeserving or not belonging, unable to assess your own competence, agonize over mistakes and flaws, fear of not living up to expectations, doubt yourself, and feel like everyone else is better than you are.
In my 20 years of experience working with the subconscious and self-sabotage, everyone I have ever worked with had at least a couple of these symptoms. The characteristics of imposter syndrome are common among humans. If you think you are one of the 75% of professionals experiencing imposter syndrome, you’re in the right place.
It’s not your fault. Everyone, including people who had amazing childhoods, have limiting beliefs that keep them stuck until those beliefs are transformed into supportive beliefs.
Limiting beliefs are to you what kryptonite is to Superman.
The solution is easier than you may think with my "Break Free" MethodTM. Affectionately called the "Set It and Forget It" method. More about that later.
Let’s achieve your goals and dreams by addressing the actual root cause of imposter syndrome, your limiting beliefs and the experiences that caused them. By having your limiting beliefs and stories updated for you, you will feel confident, genuine, deserving, like you belong, and have a realistic assessment of your own competence. You will enjoy being recognized for your efforts, see mistakes as learning opportunities, and appreciate your own value and the value others provide.
It’s time for you to free yourself from the doomsday thinking; that you will always be this way. This is not the case at all.
When the causes of your limiting thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are identified, updated, and replaced with supportive beliefs and experiences, your professional life will transform. You will feel confident about achieving your goals, and your stress level will drop.
By having your limiting beliefs transformed into empowering beliefs, feelings of being a fraud, undeserving, and not belonging will fade away.
Story 1
My client Veer, a CTO, told me he had imposter syndrome and was becoming more depressed and detached from his family, friends, and colleagues.
He thought imposter syndrome was an irreversible mental illness. I helped his subconscious release his meanings around the label. He felt like a big weight had been lifted off his shoulders. He felt more optimistic.
During our sessions, I found out Veer had some experiences as a child that caused the limiting beliefs making him feel like a fraud and incompetent. One experience Veer remembered was feeling embarrassed when his was given the same award in grade school when other children had performed much better than he.
After rewiring his beliefs and experiences, now Veer feels good about himself. Veer is now able to connect authentically with his family, friends, and colleagues.
Secret 1
The diagnosis and labeling of imposter syndrome adds fuel to the fire.
The characteristics of imposter syndrome are reversible. The limiting beliefs that cause the experiences of imposter syndrome are typically caused by childhood experiences that created limiting beliefs in the subconscious. This programming keeps you stuck in mediocrity.
This is the same for any other limiting mental obstacle. It’s my experience that labeling imposter symptoms will make them more entrenched in the mind, causing a feeling of hopelessness.
I will help you drop the diagnosis and label so we can get to the root cause and transform it, so you can feel good about yourself.
Story 2
Over 20 years ago, when I was studying the human mind, I discovered that all limiting beliefs are stacked upon the queen bee of limiting beliefs: the feeling of not being good enough.
After testing and tweaking several approaches to rewiring limiting beliefs, I realized there is a web of hundreds of limiting beliefs leading to the head honcho limiting belief: feeling not good enough.
I learned that I first must work with the subconscious to identify and unravel a handful of the most potent limiting beliefs and release them, causing a domino effect that removes many others quickly. Only then is the feeling of not being good enough transformed.
Secret 2
When the biggest core limiting belief of humans is not feeling good enough, it’s inevitable that humans experience a deep, haunting feeling of being a fake. When you don’t feel good enough, no matter what you do, there’s a sense of not being worthy, deserving, belonging, and being less than, causing a level of disconnection and isolation from oneself and others.
The polar opposites are in play. You are worthy and enough intrinsically, and the human condition of feeling not enough creates the journey to realizing your greatness.
I will help you make a much smoother and quicker transition to feeling good enough and successful.
Below are some examples of limiting beliefs and experiences that may have caused feelings of imposter syndrome.
Limiting Beliefs
- I’m going to be found out.
- Everyone is smarter than me.
- I hope I can pull it through next time.
- I screwed up again.
- OMG, I made a mistake. I can’t let anyone find out.
- I don’t belong here.
Experiences
- You were ignored as a child.
- You were accused of lying repeatedly when you weren’t.
- Your parents celebrated your minimal accomplishments.
- When you achieved, you were told you didn't deserve it.
- You were treated with less interest than others who achieved the same things.
What are some limiting beliefs and experiences that may have caused your feelings of imposter syndrome?
What will change in your work-life when you don’t experience these limiting beliefs any longer?
The good news is that there’s now a Done-For-You method that will align your subconscious with your goals and vision by shedding the imposter syndrome, self-sabotage thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Secret 3
Removing the label of imposter syndrome and addressing the root cause of the behavior will skyrocket your confidence.
The most common symptoms of imposter syndrome are anxiety, perfectionism, fear of failure, and self-doubt. Many people can have these same symptoms, causing very different experiences, such as challenges with procrastination, fear of public speaking, lack of money, and countless others.
Removing the label of imposter syndrome from a person’s identity will indeed lift their spirits.
I will do this with my 3-Step “Break Free” method to identify and rewire the limiting meanings that help create one's identity. Then, I will replace it with meanings that connect a positive identity to oneself. Your self-identification becomes supportive and aligned with your goals and visions.
Treating the root cause of the symptoms in the same way; we will help the subconscious release the experiences of imposter syndrome and replace them with experiences that support feelings of authenticity and confidence.
Many people put a lot of effort into trying to change their limiting thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to level up and have a more successful work-life, not realizing that it's nearly impossible for them to identify the root causes of their limiting beliefs.
This can turn into a rabbit hole that spirals out of control for years, chasing and trying to fix everything except for the actual root cause.
The result is that your efforts have given you the ability to manage your limiting beliefs. This means that the need for your consistent attention will always be part of the equation.
I never liked this equation. That's why I developed a 3- Step method that will remove the root causes of your limiting beliefs for you.
Instead of going upstream, now you will be going downstream with the flow of life.
Bonus
- No effort on your part between sessions
